Freeway x Botong

by - October 21, 2012

Like I mentioned in my last OTD, I went to the Freeway x Botong launch last Thursday with my fellow blogger friends at The Row, Glorietta 1 and I'm glad I was able to go to this, because I missed the last one they had due to my night classes. But now, I got the chance to see Freeway kick start the 100th year celebration of National Artist for Visual Arts Carlos "Botong" V. Francisco through the beautiful pieces of the National Artist Collectors' Series. :)

A view of the collection :)

For the Freeway X Botong collaboration, it pays tribute to his life and amazing murals. He was born on  1912 and what better way to see his paintings become wearable art than this year, which marks his centennial celebration.

I wish I can draw like them!

Whenever I go to Freeway's events, there are a lot of things that I look forward to and one of the few are their yummy food and impressive art exhibitions. :) This time, they had the Michael Blanco's Academy of Artists, which showcased the wonderful works of young talented artists age 6 to 12 years old, all from Botong Francisco's hometown province of Angono Rizal.

Before the fashion show started, I got the chance to see familiar faces of friends and to go in The Row and have a first glimpse of the October collection of Freeway...

Ms. Cherie Gil hosted the event and she wore one of the dresses and accessories from the Freeway x Botong collection. :) She looked absolutely stunning and classy as always! I love it whenever she hosts!

The fashion show consisted of the 25 piece elegant Holiday collection immortalizing Botong Francisco's paintings. They showed timeless paintings translated into graphic tees, work shirts, tailored dresses, casual tops, weekend wear and standout accessories. :)

After the beautiful fashion show, we got to hear a few words from special guests, Mr. Ino Manalo ( Executive Director of the National Archives) and Carlos "Totong" Francisco II (Grandson of Botong Francisco ) who both shared stories to us about the great Botong Francisco. The former governor of Tarlac and passionate lover of fashion and art, Mrs. Margarita "TingTing" Cojuangco also graced the event. :)

I had a great time at the event and I'm proud of how Freeway has gone a long way to show us all that art can be wearable and how we should always remember the huge contributions of our National Artists to our country. :)

Thank you, Freeway for having me!:)
