One day of Zen: Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0

When I attended the Zen Festival 2015 last August, that was my very first Asus event and little did I know back then that it was also the first time I would fall in love with an Asus phone - my Zenfone Selfie. :) But if I thought that was going to be my only one, I was wrong! Because I got to experience another Asus phone, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 and that too was something!:)

Last November 21, Asus held a Smatphone Photography 101 workshop with the pros - Jay Tablante and Roy Macam. Unfortunately, I had to attend my class in the morning so I wasn't able to witness the whole workshop. But luckily, when it was time to test our Smartphone photography skills at Fort Santiago, I was right on time!:)

Of course for taking photos, we all used the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 (ZE500KL)!


*DISCLAIMER: I am not a tech blogger, so please do not expect this to be an extremely techy or deep post about the features. I am a Lifestyle and fashion blogger, so I'm reviewing based on how I felt when using the phone. :) *

So, what's so great about this phone? Well, for starters look at how gorgeous it is! It comes in different colors like Pure Black/ Ceramic White / Red / and my favorite, Sheer Gold. :) I just can't resist the classy and timeless look of gold.


To be honest, I was initially disappointed that I forgot to bring my camera during the event, because I rushed out of the house that morning. I only had my Zenfone 2 Laser with me and at the end of the day, I was happy I didn't bring it, because first, it would make my bag extra heavy while commuting and I wouldn't have used it anyway. The Zenfone 2 Laser was actually all that I needed. :)

The operating system of the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 is Android 5.0 Lollipop and has processor - Qualcomm 64-bit Quad Core Processor Snapdragon 410. That's fast already!


For a smartphone, the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has sharp features when taking photos. It has an 8MegaPixel rear camera with large f/2.0- aperture, 5-element auto-focus lens / Laser Auto Focus for 0.3 second focus time. As for the front, it has 5 MegaPixel camera. :)

 Just look at my OOTD at Fort Santiago. It actually resembles shots when using an actual camera. It's not bad at all! Take note, these shots have NO FILTER. 




Again, all my photos from Fort Santiago were taken using only the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 with NO FILTER. Just look at how beautiful the outdoor shots are! Very scenic and vivid!

I think for people who choose not to lug around a huge SLR with them and commute most of the time, this is a great substitute. It's weight is only 140 grams.

And if you can't get enough of selfies and groupfies, this phone would make you love it all the more...

You can never ever feel ugly with Real Time Beautification feature of Asus phones. You can't even spot any breakouts or zits from our face! I guess now you'd have to create a separate album solely for selfies! >_< haha!

Other modes that Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has to offer: Night mode / Depth of field / Selfie mode / Photo Effects / Panorama mode / Miniature / Time Rewind / Smart Remove / All Smiles and Time Lapse.

It also has a Full HD Video recording 1080p @30fps capture with video stabilization and one-touch / still-capture facility.


It also has Back Light (HDR) mode with Asus PixelEnhancing Technology for up to 400% brighter, and evenly exposed photos. It has a super resolution mode for up to 52MP resolution photos.


For people who are heavy social media users like my blogger friends and I, you would be happy to know that the Zenfone 2 Laser 5.0 has the following:

Laser Direct Structuring Antennas for better signal reception
4G LTE (Cat 4) download speed up to 150Mbps
GSM/WCDMA Quad-Band for Worldwide Data Roaming
Wi-Fi direct
Battery life - up to 13 hours

Also supports Dual SIM. :)

Slightly grainy, but you can't deny that it still takes detailed shots. :) I bet though the Zenfone 2 Laser ( ZE550KL) with 13MP camera can take even better photos. So, you can always choose between the two. :)

My ASUS Zenfone is also the kind of phone that I'm not afraid to just chuck in my bag, because it has an Anti Scratch Corning Gorilla Glass 4 screen. 


I can leave it in my bag mixed with all my other stuff and not worry about scratches. Until now, I still haven't put screen protector on it, because I don't see the need for it right now - no scratches on my phone just yet. :) 

You can also store quite a few games, files and photos on the phone. It has a memory of LPDDR3 2GB RAM and Storage: 16GB ROM, ASUS WebStorage 5GB (lifetime) / Google drive 100G free space ( 2 years).
