Freeway x Lucio San Pedro's Music

by - May 31, 2013

Freeway has done it yet again with a successful launch of their 9th National Artist Collector's Series for Fall 2013 featuring the man with so much talent and ingenuity, a great Filipino composer and teacher, Lucio San Pedro. Together with the launch, the brand also celebrated the 100th Birth Centennial of this great musician. :)

The launch was held at The Row, Glorietta. Before the program started, I got the chance to say hello to Freeway's Ms. Sheree Gotauco and Katty Qua. Aside from that we also got to enjoy some yummy food, which is always present at Freeway events. :)

And because bloggers love Freeway, we couldn't miss this much awaited affair. Each National Artist Collector's Series is something to be excited for, because it just keeps getting better and better. Plus, I can't think of any other brand that gives this much tribute to our National Artists. Hats off to Freeway for this!

ARS Nouveau Chorale

The event was hosted by the lovely Rachel Alejandro and we all got serenaded to a beautiful medley of songs prepared by high school students straight from Lucio's hometown, the ARS Nouveau Chorale from Angono Rizal Lead School for the Arts. They awed us with hits such as Sa Mahal Kong Bayan, Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas, Kayumangging Malaya and Sa Ugoy ng Duyan. After that, the respected musical talent herself, Ms. Rachel Alejandro sang to us some of her songs.

Lucio San Pedro is known for his composition of the widely popular lullaby "Sa Ugoy ng Duyan" (in collaboration with another National Artist, Levi Celerio) and the symphonic poem "Lahing Kayumanggi", Lucio San Pedro has indeed paved the Pinoy world of music with plenty of his beautiful compositions bearing national soul.

Of course the night wouldn’t be complete without Lucio San Pedro’s beloved family being present. The night’s special guests, Kristy San Pedro Salita, Rhodora San Pedro delos Santos, Alberto delos Santos and Dr. Antonio Hila, did a special interview with Rachel onstage where they told happy stories about him. :)

For the collection, it is composed of a wide array of casual to work tops and dresses using fabrics such as satinized twills, matte charmeuse, poplins and knits.  The unique cuts and styles made out of different fabric combinations are carefully crafted to flatter the woman's figure without sacrificing comfort by using mostly stretch fabrications. As for its visual prowess, the collection combines floral inspirations with hand drawn lines and curves fused with lyrics and titles of San Pedro’s famous orchestra pieces. Colors range from the basic black and white to subtle tones such as beige and teal. Certainly, these pieces are made to capture the essence and mark of the Filipina's modern beauty.
