Liz Uy For Rags2Riches ARTEsenal Luxe

by - October 18, 2013

The first time I ever encountered Rags2Riches was almost 3 years ago and what got my attention was obviously their gorgeous handcrafted bags. But upon further research through the internet, I found out that there was more to their lovely bags. They actually originated in 2007 in Payatas. They create eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of cycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics by working with artisans who are living in the poor communities across the country.

It's a breath of fresh air to see a local brand here in the Philippines who not only makes profit, but gives a livelihood for our fellow Filipinos. Not only that, they also make sure to avoid excessive and needless addition of chemicals and packaging. I find that amazing and would totally go for their bags, because of how they care for not only their bags or profit, but the people around them.

To be honest, I've been wanting a Rags2Riches tote for the longest time! Maybe I should get one this December? Christmas gift, anyone? *hints* *hints* haha!:)

This Fall/Holiday 2013, Rags2Riches collaborates with one of Philippines' most influential fashion icons and this season's Rags2Riches Style Advocate, Liz Uy. The ARTEsenal Luxe makes a bold statement that glamour can be good for the world, and that style can have soul and substance. It shows that even a celebrity stylist and fashion editor-at-large believes that one's personal style should always make a statement, and that one's accessories should go way beyond just a decorative piece, possessing a story and life of its own.

The collection fuses the glitz and glamour of the Art Deco movement, with the subtle intricacy of Artesenal Craft. Each piece in this collection illustrates the tactile richness of different handmade textures, as well as artful interpretations of the lives and values of the artisans, producing eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of recycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics as they strive to weave better futures for the families and communities where these skilled individuals hail from.

The bags are just so beautiful. It's like carrying with you a piece of love. People would automatically think that its a nice bag, but at least you know deep inside that through that bag, you're helping out someone and therefore, it becomes so much more, right?:)
