Ang Plastik Mo!

by - November 19, 2011

No, I'm not fighting with anyone nor am I calling anyone plastic on my blog. This is a war free zone. :) The title of my post is actually very literal and it's all about the fashion show I helped organized and accidentally modeled for in school. Accident because I was suppose to be just behind the scenes. I'm a member of our school's Center for Social Action and under the Advocacy Team, BTW. But since there was this tiny top that couldn't fit anyone, I just had to be put in! Please don't laugh at me. :))

To give you an idea why our fashion is entitled, "ANG PLASTIK MO!" is because the items we used or wore for the show was all made out of different recycled materials but the main material used is plastic. It's from the eco-livelihood project of the Invisible Sisters/Institute to help revive the forgotten skill of crochet with workshops for mothers and grandmothers tied to the home and have no potential to earn or learn. With their project, "Unseen people Unseen waste"they help the women who create these items earn and make us aware that waste can have a newly discovered creativity twist to it. So with our fashion show, we are making our fellow Benildeans aware of this project and the help they can contribute by donating plastics to the Invisible Institute. :)

These are the items we used for the show. They're all made of plastic/other materials and they were turned into clothes and bags. Creative, right?:)

Here are some Behind the scenes. We were all getting ready here...

Pretty models! We incorporated the "plastic" clothes into our own clothing, like our jeans, shoes, etc. :)

And this is what I wore! The tiny top still didn't fit me during the day itself. FAIL. So, they changed it into this! I actually like it better because the tiny top was kinda halter-like. I'm scared to show a lot of skin! No can do!:))

Let the show begin! Believe it or not, I am not used to modeling. Seriously. This event made my heart skip so much. haha!=P

The fashion show was a success and I'm really grateful that my team trusted me to help them and also be part of the fashion show. I had an amazing time doing this and even for a good cause!

Oh in case you're interested in buying items like what we had in our fashion show (ex. bags) I know KULTURA at SM sells them. Shameless plug!:)

Will be having a busy Saturday. Go productivity!:)
