Craving for thai!

by - January 16, 2013

The family and I went out last Sunday to have our last dinner together with my Mom and Aunt, because they were going back to Taiwan the very next day. This is is kinda a tradition for us, so we went to Greenbelt to look for a restaurant that was still open, because arrived there at around 9:30 PM already. Luckily, Mango Tree Bistro was still open and I was really craving for thai food for quite some time now.

Since this was also our first time to dine at Mango Tree Bistro, I decided to blog about. :)

If you're looking for a cozy and intimate place to have lunch/ dinner with your family or friends, then this place is definitely for you. Plus you have a choice whether you wanna dine inside or outside.

What's for dinner??

The main reason why I crave for Thai food is always because of Tom Yum soup. Ever since I tasted it during our Bangkok trip circa 2001, it has become my favorite. Thumbs up for Mango Tree Bistro for having 3 kinds of Tom Yum and a lot of other food choices on their menu!:)

Now on to the feast!

For our drinks, I had the Lemongrass Iced Tea (Php 80 ) and it was really good! They even served it with authentic lemongrass on the side. ;) I recommend this if you dine here! My Mom and Gersh had their smoothie and they both commended on how yummy it was. My grandmother on the other hand had coughs that time, so it wasn't advisable for her to order any cold drinks. Fortunately, they offered Twinings tea in different flavours. :)

Who's hungry???:)

For our soup, we tried out TOM KHA GAI, which had a sweet and sour taste of young coconut milk with chicken. It was our first time to eat this and my mom ( a picky eater, mind you) loved it! She kept telling me to try it, so I did, but my heart was still settled on my first love, TOM YUM GOONG, which had spicy thai prawns with lemongrass, lime and red chilies. Yum!:)

My grandfather loves fish, while Athan is just crazy about chicken, so we ordered, PLA KRAPONG NEUNG MA NOW a.k.a. steamed whole sea bass with lemon, garlic and fresh chilli sauce and GAI HOR BAI TOEY(Php 350) a.k.a. chicken wrapped in pandan leaves.

For veggie lovers, they have "Kangkong" (sorry forgot what it's called) and POPIA PHAD THAI (Php 250): deep fried thai noodle spring rolls served with sweet chilli dipping sauce. I wasn't that into the spring rolls, but I definitely can't wait to try their other veggies. :)

And finally for our rice, we had the ever famous, "Bagoong rice"...

They said this can be good for sharing, but honestly, because of how yummy it is, we had to order 3 more. =P For us, it seemed like it was only good for one person. So, I suggest if you eat a lot like us, then order one for each person. hehe. :))

Mango Tree Bistro is a bit pricey when it comes to their food. But I do recommend it if you love Thai food. :)
