The light of our family.♥

by - June 18, 2017

Being a single parent based abroad and having to work for our future, my Mom left me with two people she trusted the most and they were my grandparents. Growing up I never really had a Dad beside me, but I always did look up to my Lolo as my father. He is one of the most hardworking man I know and absolutely dedicated to his family. He would constantly remind me to eat on time and ask me where I am if I wasn't home yet and to never forget my house keys and license.

He passed away 3 years ago to cancer and even if he's moved on, I still keep his constant reminders close to heart and never forget. I know he's watching us from up above. Through his guidance, I am the person I am today. :)

Nothing brings a smile to a father’s face easily than seeing his family happy. While he may miss out on time at home when he’s hard at work in the office or is always tired from dividing his time between work commitments and his family, he knows that all of his efforts are worth it because he’ll be able to provide his loved ones with the comfortable life that he dreams for them.

What are you doing for your dad this Father’s Day?

Seen as the strong pillars and unflickering light of the family, fathers keep the family together through his love, which may not always be expressed through words, but can always be felt through his tireless actions of selflessness.

With this, Firefly LED has come out with a heartwarming Father’s Day tribute for all hard working, madiskarte daddies out there, who serve as an inspiration to their children as they grow up to be loving, responsible, and hardworking individuals. That through his love they will always keep in mind that dad is “Kasama Mo” through and thick and thin.

Featuring the stories of three hardworking fathers, Harold, a 43-year-old single father and architect; Rowel, a 47-year-old electrician who’s also used to taking on whatever jobs that come his way to make ends meet; and Mario, a 50-year-old driver turned real estate agent; the video takes all three fathers into a private interview where they are asked to share what being a father is for them, not knowing that their families are watching the interview.

“Ako ang nag-aalaga sa kanila, lahat ng pangangailangan nila, pag-aaral, pagkain, baon nila araw araw, kung ano yung kailangan, yun ang ginagampanan,” says Harold of his responsibility to his children.

When asked what kind of father he is to his children, Rowel has this to say, “Mapagmahal na ama. Hanggang kaya ko magtrabaho, gagawin ko. Sila lang ang kayamanan ko sa buhay.”

Mario meanwhile, takes pride in being able to provide for his children, especially for their education, “Napagtapos ko silang lahat. Masasabi ko pa rin naman na naging maayos yung pagpapalaki ko sa kanila.”

When asked what it is that they continue to pray for their family, a teary-eyed Mario says that he doesn’t want a broken family, same with Rowel, who shares he doesn’t want his children to suffer any hardships in life, adding how, one of his daughters is currently going through some problems with her partner who took away their child. Rowel’s daughter starts to cry after seeing Rowel clearly heartbroken by what she’s going through.

As the three fathers were talking about the joys and sacrifices of being a father, unbeknownst to them their families have been listening to their interviews, shedding tears of appreciation for their beloved man of the house.

This time, it’s their families who will be making the effort to celebrate the wonderful fathers that they are. Selfless, loving, and will do anything for their families.

It is definitely heartwarming to hear their stories and see how, with a just a loving hug from their family members and words of appreciation, you’ll see the look of contentment and happiness in their eyes. That with just a small gesture of appreciation, they are reassured that all of their sacrifices for their families are worth it.

“Darating din ang panahon na magiging magulang sila, sana ganon din ang gawin ng mga anak nila sa kanila,” ends Harold.
