Korean Style the Loreal way!

by - August 10, 2013

People lately have been telling me I look Korean while some strangers would ask if I am Korean. Aside for my strong love for Kimchi, I really don't know what makes me look like one. Especially given the fact that I'm Chinese. =P But since its been going on for quite awhile, why not hop on that train? After all, Korean women are known for carrying distinct hairstyles that show luscious curls or fringes, which are equally stylish, edgy and healthy. :)

I've always wanted to have my hair permed. It has been a long time dream of mine. But truth be told, I was scared to commit to it, because I didn't know what the outcome of it would be. I didn't want to risk hating my hair for months, so I never gave in. But with the Korean hair phenomenon amongst us, it's inevitable to not give in. Fortunately, one of the beauty brands I trust, L'Oreal Professionnel  partnered  with the number one Korean hair salon in the country; Tony & Jackey to present their latest collection; The Korean City Style!:)

The collection is inspired by Korea's top three culturally influential districts and perms aimed to transform ordinary-looking hair to the much-celebrated Korean tresses.

The three styles are namely...

HONG DAE STYLE [Php 2,800]: A youthful and cute pop perm look inspired by the trendy and funky vibe of Hong Dae. Each trendy style is reflective of the district that has its own distinctive style, from clothes to hair to attitude that would best suit any type of Filipina and her personality.

GANGNAM STYLE [Php 8,000]: A glamour chic-see through glam perm look that can easily blend into the trendy parts of the city that is inspired by the richest district in Seoul.

BUSAN STYLE [Php 2,800]: An artsy, romantic, and Bohemian vibe bubble perm look inspired by the cultural and artistic city of Busan.

Of course, I just had to pick the Busan style cos I thought it suited my hair length nicely and that the artsy part came naturally to me. heee!;)

Tracy and I kept laughing at how we looked like during the process. We seemed like aliens. =P

The stylists of Tony & Jackey were very accommodating and showed real care for our hair. If they thought we needed hair treatment instead of perming, they would honestly tell us. :) Because I actually know of some salons that wouldn't care about damaged locks and would perm your hair anyway!

The great thing about my perming process was it didn't involve hot curling irons or equipments. I just had some L'Oreal products; Tenso moisturist and Dulcia Advanced formula to help me achieve fortifying long-lasting cold perm. :)

After pampering our hair, we also had our makeup done care of Maybelline. Thanks to my MUA, Thea!

And finally, presenting my official Korean transformation...

I am SO happy with the outcome of my first-ever perming experience. Tony & Jackey and L'Oreal did such an amazing job. I have no regrets that I took the risk. :) Thank you as well to my awesome hair stylist, Tei for making my hair pretty! Achieved na achieved!

And with great hair also comes proper maintenance. Complete three Korean City Style looks with the help of other key L’Oreal Professionnel products.

  1. Towel dry hair and blow-dry it with an application of both Mythic Oil and Tecni.art full Volume Mousse to build up the foundation of bouncier looking curls.
  2. To provide extra hold for shorter hair, apply Tecni.art Playball Density Material for the idea Busan and Hong Dae Style.
  3. For the Gangnam style, add extra hold by spritzing Elnett Spray to lift and hold longer length hair.
  4. Finish off the three Korean City Style looks with a pump of Tecni.art Crystal Gloss for added shine.

  1. I love Tei!! He is so nice and friendly. He did my hair twice na. Sa SM Manila ba kayo pumunta? Or maybe he got reassigned somewhere else. :(

I have to agree that I love how genuinely concerned they are with their clients' hair! I wanted to get fringe rebond but Tei advised na hindi daw pwede kase I just had Keratin Treatment and hair color from other salon. Plus, I love how I always look so Korean whenever nagpapagupit sa T&J. I honestly think mahal ang haircut, pero worth naman. :)

Bagay mo yung hair Ava! Mukha talagang Korean!
